Qld: Boy's forearm caught in mincer

A 16-year-old boy is undergoing surgery after his right forearm was caught in a mincing
machine at a Brisbane butcher's shop.

Two specialist physicians had to anaesthetise the boy at the shop in Virginia, on Brisbane's
northside, as emergency service officers worked to free him.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics were called to the butcher shop just before 8am (AEST).

A spokeswoman for the service says the teenager wasn't freed until two hours later.

He was taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital where his condition was stabilised.

A hospital spokesman says the boy's been taken to an operating theatre, but it's not
known whether surgeons can save his hand.
